1. The first VBIED caused a breach in an outer
barrier wall of the Palestine and Sheraton hotels
at Firdos Square traffic circle.

3. Thirty seconds later, a Coalition Forces
soldier engaged a cement truck that was moving
through the breached wall. The truck exploded
near a coalition vehicle causing moderate damage.

An Iraqi Army Battalion conducted cordon and
search of VBIED/IED and bomb facility in Baghdad
on 20 Oct 05.

• Iraqi Army discovered washing machine timers,
  blasting caps, resisters/capacitors, automatic
  door locks, and chemical materials used in making
  Improvise Explosive Devices. A Coalition Force
  chemical team then moved in to exploit IED
  material and test chemicals found on the site.

• Three detainees tested positive for explosives.
• This was an IED and bomb fabrication facility,
  not a chemical lab

• Continuing further research and analysis on
  chemicals and IED material.

Weapons Cache and Training Facility

• The overall facility looked to be very complex.
  There were small holes in the exterior wall that
  overwatched the road.
• The facility was obviously set up for the
  building of IEDs and training to build them, but
  also as a point of transport.
• Could have been used as a resupply point for
  insurgents.
• Found in the Albu Hiatt area
