Innovative Projects in Chicago
  • Educating Homeless Children
  • Students learned about teaching strategies and
    formed relationship with local shelter to work
    with children learned about delays
  • Library for Cognitive disabilities
  • College Prep school partnered with school for
    disabilities to help put together a library
    learned of appropriate materials, administration
  • Practicing World Languages
  • Spanish students prepared activities to teach
    Spanish to senior citizens conducted activities
    in Spanish to practice language
  • Adopt-a-Beach
  • Environmental Science class worked with Lake
    Michigan Federation to learn about quality
    environment worked to protect and maintain beach
  • Building with Books
  • Help host fundraisers to develop schools
    internationally two students travel to country
    to help build school

Time Expectation
  • 40 hours upon graduation (TOTAL)
  • 20 hours before exiting grade 10
  • 10 hours each year!
  • 1 8 hour day of work 2 addl hours
  • 2 4 hour work sessions 2 addl hours
  • 4 2 hour work sessions 2 addl hours
  • 1 hour per week for 1 quarter
  • ½ hour per week for 2 quarters
  • 15 minutes per week for 4 quarters
  • MANY DIFFERENT WAYS TO EARN THEM It is better
    to give than to receive!
