How MEGA O.I.S. Works
Inside MEGA O.I.S.
O.I.S. lens moves up and down and left and right
to correct the path of the light.
O.I.S. control flow
MEGA O.I.S. uses a gyro sensor to detect jitter
and then moves the lens to correct it. It moves
some lens elements to direct the light straight
onto the CCD.

MEGA O.I.S. helps achieve clear, beautiful images
in a wide range of shooting conditions.
Low-light Shots
Macro Mode
Telephoto
This gives clear shots when you zoom in. Good for
"macro telephoto" shots, such as a butterfly that
might be frightened if you move too close, or a
flower in a valley.
A tripod is not needed for macro shots if you
turn on MEGA O.I.S. It gives clear details of the
subject against a defocused background.
Whenever you can't use flash to catch a mood or
snap a sleeping baby in museums and other places
that don't allow flash.

Slow Shutter by Choice
Gives a sense of speed by allowing only the
background to blur when you pan the camera to
follow a moving subject. The shutter speed slows
and the O.I.S. is applied in the vertical
direction only.
You can get dynamic effects by using a slow
shutter speed when shooting fast-moving subjects
such as aircraft or wild animals. MEGA O.I.S. and
the 12x Zoom give beautiful images.
When shooting moving-image, MEGA O.I.S. reduces
jitter to give a picture that's easy to watch.
After all, it was originally developed for movies.
