Who was the Sapa Inca?

• The Sapa Inca is the Ruler of the Incas.
• The name Sapa Inca means only emperor.
• The Sapa Incas sister was supposed to be his
  first wife but the Sapa Inca had over 100 wives.
• Even though the Sapa Inca was rich, He slept on a
  mat in his fortress just like everyone else.
• When the Sapa Inca was done with an outfit it was
  burned.
• Also, when ever he went outside there was a cloth
  put over his face because it was said he was to
  beautiful for anyone to see his face

Who will take the Sapa Incas Place?

• When the Sapa Inca passed away one of his
  strongest sons would take his place.

A Common Incan Family

• If you lived in the Incan village long ago you
  would of lived in an ayllus.
• An ayllus is a group of 10-20 people that live
  together.
• Each ayllus had its own piece of land assigned to
  it to grow crops on and feed off of.

Work

• It was a law that you had to keep working or you
  would be sentenced to death.
• The Incas also paid their taxes by working.
• The Incas had no freedom too, they couldnt have
  anything in their house that didnt help them
  with their jobs.

Road Runners

• A popular job for an Inca was a Road Runner.
• A road runner is like a mail man but the Incas do
  relay to pass a message.
• Sometimes if a message was supposed to be secret
  it was passed in a qupiu.
• A qupiu is a series of knots and colored rope.
• When a quipu is delivered it was figured out by a
  special person.

Weddings and Babies

• If a man wasnt married by the age of 20 his wife
  was chosen for him.
• When a baby was born its arms were bound together
  to make it stronger.
• The Incan babies were never held because the
  Incas thought that it made them cry more.
• Many children died from their parents not taking
  care of them.

How the Fight Started

• Well it all started when the Sapa Inca died and
  he didnt pick one of his sons to be the next
  ruler. Well two of the sons wanted to be ruler
  and they went to war to see who would be ruler.
• Soon one of the sons won and became ruler.

The Spanish Came

• When the new Sapa Inca saw the Spanish he made a
  plan that he would kill most of them and then
  keep some as slaves.
• Then the Spanish went and kidnapped the Sapa
  Inca. When the Sapa Inca was taken he thought the
  Spanish wanted gold and silver. He promised that
  he would give them what they wanted if they left
  peacefully. The Spanish didnt keep their word
  and took over the whole Incan civilization.They
  also destroyed the Incan village.
