Artist Statement
  • My first interaction with art was when my mom
used to paint, and she would let me paint with
watercolors. Ever since I was very young I liked
to draw and my mom would never fail to encourage
my curiosity when it came to art. Since then I
have developed my own style and draw from many
    things for inspiration.
  • When I begin a piece I usually have a goal in
mind, not how it will look but the feeling youll
get when you look at it. each painting has a
story, a thought and a message. I have wanted for
a long time to find a way to let people hear my
voice. Ive found I can do that through art.
  • My favorite mediums to work with are pencil,
if Im feeling simple, oils, my favorite to paint
with because they blend so well and collage. I
like collage because it allows me to use symbols
and suggestions to create an over all mood in a
piece, not to mention its fun. Art used to be my
pastime, then it was my hobby, now it not only
fills the hours of the day I hope it will guide
me through my life. Amanda Lynn Brenton

Principles of Design Book
  • In art 2 we were given a project to design a
childrens book to teach the basic principles of
    design.

Indias Sunset
  • This painting was inspired by a picture of a
sunset in India. I added a little more depth to
    it from imagination.

7
Dashing Blue Mug
  • This mug was made in Mr. Gilliams Sculpture and
Ceramics class. I achieved the one of a kind blue
color on the mug by mixing Mex. point green
periwinkle blue. It was by far my favorite.

8
Little Mug
  • This also was made in Sculpture and Ceramics
class. I like this mug especially because it is
simple and un-extraordinary. Its also very
    small, and kind of cute.

9
Faux Monet
  • These mono-prints were freehanded and I thought
they came out very well. They reminded me of some
of Monets painting, thus the title Faux Monet

Me in the Morning
  • For this project we used cellu-clay to create a
3D face on a flat surface. The face I made
reminds me of how I sometimes feel in the
    mornings.)

12
Mug Shot
  • The elongated portraits were to be self-
caricatures. My picture started as a very angry
me, and it sort of looked like a mug shot. I used
my artistic license to change the background and
make it look like a real mug shot.

13
Art Department Mural
  • This was my final project for Honors Art 3.
Brittany Sattler and I worked on it for about
three weeks using semi- gloss, flat and acrylics.

14
Guys and Dolls-Prop
  • This was the first project we took on in Honors
Art 3. The Theatre Department won an award for
their stage design, of which the art department
and all of our signs were apart of.
