• Mission Statement
• We promote the importance of education,
  self-esteem, diversity, and teamwork in a fun,
  safe environment, allowing players to develop to
  their fullest potential in soccer and life.

HISTORY

• MUSC began in the mid-1980s when a group of
  parents established a recreational program for
  high school students under the auspices of
  Mankato Area Youth Athletic Association (MAYAA)
• In 1987, MAYAA Soccer participated for the first
  time in the Minnesota Youth Soccer Associations
  summer competitive program.

MORE HISTORY...

• MAYAA Soccer changed its name to MUSC in 1992.
• There were 6 competitive teams for the summer.
• There were summer and fall coed recreational
  teams.
• In 1993 MUSC sponsors its first tournament for
  players up to the age of 10.

• In 1994, a milestone was reached with the
  formation of its first girls team.
• Mankato High Schools offered soccer by 1996.
• After this, MUSC grew rapidly.
• During the late 1990s, the club sponsored more
  than 20 competitive teams each summer.
• By 2000, total participants exceeded 600.

MUSC TODAY...

• 750 participants
• 3 programs offered
• Recreational
• For players under 6 and 8 years old there are
  spring/summer recreational teams. There are no
  tryouts and no players are cut. Kids learn basic
  soccer concepts and skills, develop
  self-confidence, and have fun! Games are played
  in Mankato.
• Recreational Plus
• For players under 8, 10, and 12 years old. There
  are no tryouts and no players are cut. The
  program teaches basic soccer concepts and skills,
  develops self-confidence, and emphasizes fair
  play, healthy competition, and fun. There is some
  traveling with this program.

MORE MUSC TODAY...

• Competitive
• Mankato United participates in spring/summer
  competitive leagues organized by the Minnesota
  Youth Soccer Association. MYSA offers leagues for
  players under 9 and 19 years old.
• The competitive program focuses on individual and
  team excellence, and provides opportunities for
  players to learn advanced soccer concepts and
  skills as well as teamwork, self-discipline,
  honesty, generosity, and self-confidence. There
  are tryouts and traveling with this program.

MUSC SPONSORS...

• Annual SoccerFest mid-June
• Tournament for Recreational Plus teams in the
  region
• 40 to 50 teams gather each year to play soccer in
  Mankato or approximately 600 players
