  • The employer is responsible for requiring the
    wearing of appropriate personal protective
    equipment in all operations where there is an
    exposure to hazardous conditions or where this
    part indicates the need for using such equipment
    to reduce the hazards to the employees.

  • Protective equipment, including personal
    protective equipment for eyes, face, head, and
    extremities, protective clothing, respiratory
    devices, and protective shields and barriers,
    shall be provided, used, and maintained in a
    sanitary and reliable condition wherever it is
    necessary by reason of hazards of process or
    environment, chemical hazards, radiological
    hazards, or mechanical irritants encountered in a
    manner capable of causing injury or impairment in
    the function of any part of the body through
    absorption, inhalation or physical contact.

Minimum Clothing Requirements on a Construction
Site
  • Shirt with sleeves (preferably long)
  • Jeans or long pants
  • Hard Hat
  • Eye Protection
  • Close Toed Shoes (preferably boots)

Applications that Warrant Safety Clothing
  • Safety Clothing Should be Worn at all times on a
    Construction Job Site. However, some activities
    warrant heavier more durable Protective wear.
  • When Dealing with Chemical Hazards
  • Radiological Hazards
  • Mechanical Irritants
  • Cutting, Welding, and Heating
  • Heavy Weather Conditions (Rain)
  • Dark Conditions

  • It is still important to be aware of your
    surroundings

  • Its important to wear long sleeves and collars
    on a construction site to protect yourself from
    the sun
  • Make sure your clothes fit. Baggy clothes can
    get in the way and be hazardous
