Introduction Slide
My Presentation is about the circulatory system.I
will focus on the heart and blood circulation.
Here are the main subjects
  • The Heart
  • Blood Vessels
  • Flow of Blood
  • Reference Slide

3
The Structure of the Heart
The heart is about the size of a clenched fist.
The four chambers of the heart are the left
atrium, left ventricle, right atrium, and right
ventricle. The valves stop blood from flowing
backwards through the heart. Blood enters the
heart into the atria. Then the blood enters the
ventricles and the heart contracts pushing the
blood out of the ventricles.
4
More Information about the Heart
  • In the middle of our heart is a muscle called the
septum, which separate the left and the right
    side of your heart.
  • An adults heart beats about 70 times per minute.
  • The heart pumps blood to every cell in your body
    in about 20 seconds.
  • In an average of lifetime your heart beats more
than 2 and a half billion times.

5
Components of Blood Slide
The 4 components of blood include red blood
cells, white blood cells, plasma and platelet.
6
Plasma
Plasma is the liquid part of blood. It is a clear
yellowish color. It carries important substances
around the body and makes up about 55 of human
blood.
7
White Blood Cells
There are an average of 7000 white blood cells in
a drop human of blood. The white blood cells help
destroy germs and bacteria. They help keep the
blood clean.
8
Red Blood Cells
Red blood cells make up 40 45 of your blood.
RBCs have no nucleus. The primary function of
RBCs is to transport oxygen from the lungs to the
cells of the body. They also take waste products
from cells such as carbon dioxide. A single drop
of blood contains millions of RBCs. An average
RBC lives for 120 days.
9
Platelet
Platelets are formed in the bone marrow. Their
job is to create blood clots to stop blood from
overflowing from a cut or a wound. They have a
sticky surface that help them create clots. They
gather at the wound and block blood flow. The
clotting begins when blood is exposed to air.
10
Arteries
Arteries are blood vessels that carry blood away
from the heart. The biggest artery and blood
vessel in the body is the aorta. It carries
blood to your upper and lower body.
11
Veins
Veins are blood vessels that take blood towards
the heart. The size of the vessel increases as it
gets closer to the heart.
12
Capillaries
Capillaries are the smallest blood vessels. They
connect the arteries and veins. Oxygen is
exchanged between blood and body cells in the
capillaries through the process of diffusion.
13
Flow of Blood through Your Body
The heart pumps blood to every part of your body.
The right side of your heart pumps blood to the
lungs and the left side of your heart sends blood
through your whole body. The blood in the
receives oxygen in the lungs. The blood then
sends fresh oxygen to every cell in our body. It
also takes the carbon dioxide away from your
cells.
14
Conclusion
This presentation was about the circulatory
system. Our heart is the most important organ in
our body. Also, without blood none of the parts
of our body would get oxygen. The circulatory
system is really exciting.
