P4 1-4 Solving Inequalities
gt, lt , gt, lt Inequalities are solved the same way
as equations with 2 exceptions... 1. If you
multiply or divide by a negative on both sides of
the problem, you must switch the direction of the
inequality symbol to make the problem TRUE. 2.
The graphs of inequalities use open or closed
circles with arrows that point to the left or to
the right. gt, lt Both use Open Circles gt, lt Both
use Closed Circles
3x 4 gt 10 -2x 7 gt 15
And Inequalities have to have both statements
true. Or Inequalities can have one or more
statements that are ture.

P5 1-5 Absolute Value Equations Inequalities
Equations and Inequalities with Absolute Values
are easier to solve if you get the absolute value
by itself first. Use the normal solving process
to isolate the Abs. Val. Once the Abs. Val. is
by itself, create two equations. One will be
positive and one will be negative. Find the
answer for both problems and check your
answers. Their might be an extraneous solution.
(One that does not work in the original problem.)

Recursive and Explicit Formulas Recursive
formulas relate each term in a sequence to the
terms before it. Your Investments grow at 8
per year. Explicit formaulas use the number
of the term (n) to calculate its value. an 5n
