- ASAP 2007 Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP)
Standard Now Available (Cont.) - Enhancements
- Allows for more precise reporting of controlled
substances dispensed (minimal architectural
changes from 2005 version 3 to 7 days) - Can now be used for real-time reporting as well
as batch - ASAP makes the PMP Standard available to all
state prescription monitoring programs, state
boards of pharmacy and federal agencies at no
charge - NABP helped get the word out to state boards of
pharmacy - Yesterday, we heard from Danna Droz from the Ohio
Board of Pharmacy with an update on
Prescription-Monitoring Programs. Danna was a
significant contributor to the 2007 standard, and
Ohio was first to use the 2005 standard

- Methamphetamine Precursor (PSE) Tracking Standard
- ASAP was invited to serve as a member of the
NAMSDL Methamphetamine Precursor Tracking
Advisory Committee to the Bureau of Justice
Assistance (BJA) in March - Primary outcome of Marchs meeting was a charge
to ASAP to lead an effort to develop a
PSE-Tracking Standard that would comply with
federal statutory requirements - Work group included
- ASAP members Jerry Christenson, Fred Floyd, Mark
Sancrainte, Teresa Strickland - Representatives from Appriss and Optimum
Technology - Significant representation from policy decision
makers and law enforcement entities at the state
and national levels

- Methamphetamine Precursor (PSE) Tracking Standard
(Cont.) - As with the PMP Standard, ASAP makes the
PSE-Tracking Standard available to state and
federal policy decision makers and law
enforcement agencies at no charge (Tennessee is
now the first state to use the ASAP PSE-Tracking
Standard) - The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy
(NABP) recognized the ASAP PSE-Tracking Standard
in an article in its November/December
newsletter, States Begin to Implement Electronic
Tracking of Pseudoephedrine Purchases. - We also had an update on PSE tracking yesterday
from Joe DeSensi of Appriss, who was a key player
in the ASAP PSE-Tracking Standard development

- PhRMA Technology Assessment Survey
- Evaluating feasibility of using the National
Library of Medicines DailyMed Web site for Web
access to FDA-approved professional labeling - ASAP was commissioned to conduct this survey
- Had a 99.9 participation rate from ASAP system
vendors and high chain participation rate as well

CMI - Conducted system vendor survey at request of CMS
on availability of enhanced E1 transaction for

Standard at the Methamphetamine Precursor
Advisory Committee meeting in October - Bill also gave an update on the ASAP 2007 PMP
Standard at the NAMSDL Conference in December - And just this month, Bill was on a panel at the
NAMSDL National Chemical Central Symposium in
Chicago. Co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of
Justice to explain the ASAP PSE-Tracking Standard - The Tennessee program is using the ASAP standard
and a pilot in Illinois will use it as well. - Tennessee is making its software available at no
charge to the states - NABP Annual Meeting (Invited organization)
