eagerly anticipating the new challenges they
bring. Last week, the girls enjoyed Family Night,
where all the different family lines got together
with their alum, and spent the night eating,
chatting, and most of all, reconnecting with
their sisters. The ladies are greatly looking

Message from our President
How to make achievable New Years Resolutions
STEP 1 Be realistic by setting achievable goals.
Winning the lottery, for example, is out of your
grasp. STEP 2 Describe your resolutions in spec
ific terms. Instead of "I don't want to be lazy,"
opt for "I want to exercise regularly" or "I will
cut down on my television watching."
STEP 3 Break down large goals into smaller ones.
For instance, commit to losing weight by
resolving to join a gym and improve your eating
habits. STEP 4 Find alternatives to a behavior
that you want to change, and make this part of
your resolution plan. So you want to quit smoking
but you smoked to relax yourself? What other
forms of relaxation are available to you?
STEP 5 Above all, aim for things that are truly
important to you, not what you think you ought to
do or what others expect of you.

To the Members of the UBC Sororities,
As my term as president comes to a close I want
to send out a sincere thank you to all sorority
members for supporting me as the Panhellenic
President and for helping to make the UBC
Sororities an even better organization through
your strength and supportive attitude.  To those
who served on the Panhellenic council this year,
thank you so much for all your hard work!  I feel
so fortunate to have worked with all of you your
dedication, hard-work and a genuine concern for
the larger sorority community is very admirable.
I have learned so much from each of you and I
feel so connected with the Panhellenic Council
this year, it has truly been an amazing
experience for me.  Thank you to all the
Panhellenic Officers,  Delegates and chapter
members.  I hope that all members of the UBC
Sororities can continue to strengthen our
organization and I wish the new Panhellenic
Council and the new Chapter officers the best of
luck in the year to come!   Fraternally, Jessi
e Erickson UBC Panhellenic President

New Year Resolutions
GF?- This year Gamma Phi Beta is committed to
raising their chapter average. Study dates in
Wood anyone? ?G Delta Gamma could not be more
excited for 2007, they intend to make it the
best year it can possibly be and to do so Delta
Gamma would like to make it a chapter new years
resolution to become more involved in the Greek
system attending the great philanthropic events
held by our Panhellenic sisters, including Alpha
Phis upcoming dating game, attending even more
sporting events and making a positive image for
our chapter amongst all the sororities and
fraternities.

The position of Panhellenic Philanthropy
Coordinator is probably one of the most rewarding
positions offered by the Panhellenic Council. The
position requires you to attend Panhel meetings
every Sunday night- meetings that usually last
only about half an hour and which keep you
updated on the different events and fundraisers
each chapter is putting on. These meetings have
been a great opportunity for me to meet and work
with girls I would have never otherwise had the
chance to know and, as a result, Panhellenic
meetings have facilitated the formation of
inter-sorority friendships that have made being
on Panhel a truly positive experience. It has
been a goal of mine, as well as the chairman
before me, to put on one larger-scale event each
term. In first term we had our second annual
Childrens Fair at University Hill Elementary
school. The work that goes into organizing this
event, however strenuous, completely pays off
when you see how happy and excited the students
are to be there. The second term event has
traditionally been a campus-wide Greek Week
fundraiser usually entailing donut sales at seven
or so key locations on campus. Aside from those
larger events, it is the chairmans job to
coordinate smaller-scale drives and volunteering
opportunities when ever possible while doing
their best not to over-program busy chapters.
This year we have done a Cinderella Project dress
drive, a Give Warmth clothing drive as well as
two drives in conjunction with IFC. A chairmans
other responsibilities entail amalgamating every
chapters upcoming events and keeping each
individual sorority up to date, keeping in close
contact with the IFC philanthropy chairman,
working with individuals to find a place suitable
for them to volunteer, helping each chapters
philanthropy chairman with their events when ever
they ask and keeping chapters informed about
upcoming community events such as The Christmas
Wish Breakfast or Toque Tuesday for example.
Panhellenic Philanthropy Chairman is a position
that you can do a lot with. Its perfect for
people wanting to invest themselves in others as
well as anyone looking for a creative outlet. The
possibilities are as numerous as the amount of
new friends youll make. I encourage anyone with
a progressive attitude and a lot of free time to
consider making this position their own! Anne
Cochrane Panhellenic Philanthropy Chairman
Being a part of this years Panhellenic Council h
as been one of the most fulfilling opportunities
I have had in university.  Hard work may be a bit
of an understatement (especially with the changes
PR went through this year!!) but this position
allowed me the privilege of promoting the well
rounded organization that is UBC Sororities. It
has been such a pleasure to work with the rest of
the council, each and every officer and delegate
has shown such inspiring commitment and
dedication to our organization. Seeing how our
Greek community has grown larger and stronger
this year has been the best reward imaginable!
