  • Trojan war first appeared in the epic poem Iliad
    by Homer.
  • It possibly explained a war in Turkey over the
    use of the Black Sea.

THE TROJAN WAR
  • At the Wedding of King Peleus and the sea nymph
    Thetis.
  • The goddess of Discord, Eris, was not invited.
  • She rolled an apple to the fairest
  • Hera, Aphrodite and Athena wanted the apple.
  • Zeus assigned Paris to make the judgment.

  • Athena offered the victory over the Greeks
  • Hera offered Asia Europe
  • Aphrodite offered the most beautiful woman on
    earth Helen of Sparta.
  • Paris chose Aphrodite and the restis history!

Meanwhile in Greece (Sparta to be exact)
  • Menelaus, brother of army chief Agamemnon, had
    been chosen to be the husband of Helen.
  • Paris breaks hospitality rule and kidnaps Helen
    back to Troy.
  • Menelaus and Agamemnon gather their troops and
    sail to Troy to battle.
  • The gods begin a battle of their own.

    thrown from the tower.
