TPM SIG Background
Total Property Management is the accountability,
administration, and control of Government,
Customer and Company owned property The SIG was
established in 1998

TPM Charter
Co-develop with SAP America and American
Appraisal Associates, a generic, compliant,
industry-wide property management solution
encompassing Government, customer and company
property.

Purpose of the TPM SIG
  • Define a generic To-Be Business Process
  • Separate Company specific requirements from
    Industry specific requirements
  • Gain understanding of the multiple business
    processes and modules
  • Share with SAP and Consulting Partners the
    Industry process knowledge
  • Acquire knowledgeable Industry input on process
    design
  • Share what has already been accomplished in the
    development of this functionality by other
    Industries
  • Help define and develop the Role of Property
    Administrator in the Workplace
  • Influence the development direction for Total

  • Engaged a comprehensive cross section of AD
    Companies
  • Defined a generic As-Is Property Management
    Process
  • Developed, together with SAP and American
    Appraisal Associates, a comprehensive To-Be
    Business Process
  • Developed a System Requirements Definition (SRD)
    Document that defined a generic baseline for a
    Government compliant Property Management System

  • Using the Documented Requirements, the SIG
    developed the following Business Scenarios that
    were used by SAP to develop prototype system
    solutions
  • Receipt of a standalone piece of equipment
  • Equipment parent-child relationship
  • Equipment contract transfer and mass record
    update
  • Receipt of third party equipment for use in
    performance of contract
  • The developed Scenarios addressed approximately
    95 of the Business Processes for Total Property
    Management, including

  • The SIG also worked with SAP and their
    PriceWaterhouse Coopers consultant to define and
    develop the Role of Property Administrator for
    the SAP Workplace.
  • Defined the How-To day-to-day processes for the
    new Role that were used to build Workplace
    Mini-Applications.
  • Manages Control Process related to material /
    inventory and property
  • Authorizes inventory adjustments and
    corrections
  • Assures compliance to contractual and company
    requirements
  • Responsible for physical protection of material
  • Maintains internal controls

Next Steps
  • A joint SIG/SAP meeting/workshop has been
    scheduled for November 7th and 8th at the SAP
    Training Facility in Foster City, California.
  • The agenda will focus on the SAP solutions
  • Issues and gaps will be addressed
  • A live demo of the solutions is scheduled
  • Final system enhancements will be identified

Conclusion
The SIG, working together with SAP, is very close
to finalizing a comprehensive Property Management
solution that when implemented will provide both
AD and all of the Discrete Sector a SAP system
delivered solution for the management of
Government, customer and company property.
