The Course

• 40 hour certified course on OTC (Overhead
  Traveling Crane) Operator Training
• Follows Occupational Health Safety guidelines
  Regulation 204 (1)(a) table 16 in appendix
• 12 students maximum

The T1000

• The heart of the course is The T1000
• All of the practical exercises are incorporated
  into a 7 X 15 skid
• Although large heavy, it is easily moved by a
  forklift or its own wheels

The Rigging

• All necessary rigging accessories to do the
  practical projects are contained in a portable
  rigging container
• The container measures 4 X 8 X 8

• To apply the theory learned in the classroom,
  students begin with crane orientation/hand
  signals

• As the practical projects increase, the lifts
  move from very basic

• to more advanced lifts.

What SIAST Provides

• All practical components to perform the lifts
  including rigging, accessories and the skid.
• All instructional aides including powerpoint
  projector, laptop, VCR.
• All theory based materials including reference
  books, worksheets, exams, etc.

What the Customer Provides

• A minimum 4 ton electric OTC with at least 20 of
  vertical lift
• A suitable working area of appropriate size (20
  X 30 minimum) and noise level
• A suitable room to teach the theory components
  including proper seating, chalkboards, overhead
  projector, etc.

• Upon successful completion students will receive
  a wallet sized certification card authorizing
  them to operate OTC up to but not including 50
  tonnes

• This course has been very well received
  throughout the province from the northern uranium
  mines to apprenticeship students
