History
We have invested in preserving rail
corridor throughout Dane County.
Communities have based their land use planning
on this investment.
We need a transportation system that utilizes
these investments and encourages access to
major employment centers.
5
The Idea
Imagine a trainsystem that couldboth provide an
alternative to congested auto travel for county
commuters and serve as a downtown streetcar for
residents and the daily Madison workforce.
6
Goals
To provide fast andreliable regional
commuterservice consistent with thenext steps
of Transport 2020. To provide downtown residents
and workers with transportation options other
than a car.
7
Goals
To provide visitors with quick, reliable service
to downtown attractions, including the Kohl
Center, Camp Randall, Alliant Energy Center, and
Monona Terrace.
To be part of a longer range transportation
network for the region, ultimately including high
speed rail, earning federal and state dollars to
support the system.
