Who is BroadVoice
  • BroadVoice is a privately funded Internet
    Telephony Service Provider (ITSP) that
distributes its service through its own retail
brand, agent channels, affinity partnerships and
    wholesale opportunities.
  • We serve the consumer and business market
  • BroadVoice operates on a bring your own
broadband model similar to companies like
Vonage, ATT Call Vantage, Lingo and Packet 8
  • BroadVoice launched its retail service in April,
2004 and today we offer IP telephone service
globally with subscribers in 45 countries and all
    50 states.
  • We offer a choice of phone numbers in 35 states
and 1,500 US cities and towns and 41 cities in
    the UK.
  • We are growing at a rate of 3,000 lines per month
in our 7th full month of operation.
  • In August, BroadVoice launched a private label
test offering with a major US RBOC. That RBOC has
recently signed to roll out in all of its service
    States.

What does VoIP mean to you?
  • There are many forms of VoIP, not all are created
    equally
  • IP PBX
  • Usually premises based
  • Savings based on productivity, MAC and wiring
  • Almost always proprietary
  • Little to no call savings
  • Players include
  • Cisco
  • Avya
  • 3 Com
  • IP Centrex
  • Hosted by the service provider
  • Savings based on LD, productivity, MAC and
    sometimes wiring
  • Standards based (SIP or MGCP)
  • Players include
  • Vonage
  • GO Beam

4
TCO Comparison
1Includes convergence savings
2Includes local minutes
  • Total cost of ownership drivers (left to right)
  • PBX less than Centrex PBX costs less than
recurring Centrex charges, reduced costs for
    unbundled access, costlier phones
  • IP PBX less than PBX IP PBX shows higher CapEx
    for equipment, on-net site-to-site calling,
costlier CPE for converged voice/data network,
    but offers improved productivity
  • IP Centrex less than IP PBX IP Centrex service
charge more than IP PBX cost, converged T1s less
vs. PRIs, wider choice for phones, and no costly
staff for support, productivity is wash

Move Quickly and Innovate
  • In the near term, we will introduce
  • Presence enabled services
  • Deployment of wideband codec and dynamic codec
that covers jitter and packet loss
  • More integration between home, office and mobile
    systems
  • Soon after, we will offer
  • Innovative multimedia devices
  • Full vXML IVR with voice recognition in multiple
    languages
  • Instant Conferencing and information services
    Better than PSTN voice quality
  • Wideband CODECs will provide better audio quality
  • Audio technologies will merge with VoIP
  • MP3, ring tones and ring back, speech recognition
  • Implementation of SIP-based video
  • BroadVoice was the first VoIP provider in the US
to offer a WiFi handset for PSTN calling in
    partnership with Pulver Innovations
  • Very early, but shows great promise
