Displacement and Density

• When a solid is placed in liquid, the volume of
  the solid is equal to the volume of the liquid.

• This volume is called an objects displacement.

• An important property of a material is its
  density. Density is the mass of a matter in a
  given volume. You can find the mass of an object
  by weighing it.

• A clump of metal weighing 351.4 grams is dropped
  into a cylindrical container, causing the water
  level to rise 1.1 cm. The radius of the base of
  the container is 3.0 cm. What is the density of
  the metal?
