Los Verbos Reflexivos

    people do to/for/with themselves.
  • We usually think of personal care verbs when we
    think of Reflexives.
  • Reflexive verbs are also often verbs that express

  • The Reflexive Pronoun (-se) will change to match
    the person doing the action.

Where do we put the pronouns?
With Conjugated Verbs
  • When the verb is conjugated the pronoun comes
    directly before the verb.
  • Anita se lavó el pelo anoche.
  • Yo me acuesto temprano los lunes.
  • Tú siempre te vistes bien.

With Compound Verbs using Infinitives
  • When we have two verbs working together we
conjugate the first and leave the second as an
infinitive. We have two choices on pronoun
  • Yo me voy a duchar.
  • Yo voy a ducharme.

With Actions in Progress
  • With actions in progress we have two choices for
    pronoun placement
  • 1. Ella se está maquillando.
  • 2. Ella está maquillándose.

With Affirmative Commands
  • With Affirmative Commands we will ALWAYS attach
the pronoun to the end of the verb
  • Báñate!
  • Báñense!

With Negative Commands
  • With negative commands we will ALWAYS put the
pronoun in front of the verb
  • No te bañes!
  • No se bañen!

  • Remember that when a verb is reflexive we can
NEVER forget to use the appropriate pronouns with
it!!! We cant just leave them off.
