INTRODUCTION
  • It is important to recognize medias potential
    for dialogue and mobilization of social forces
    for conflict transformation and progressive
    construction of culture of peace.
  • Also acknowledge the importance of media in
    informing society, influencing opinion and
    perceptions and creating awareness among people.
  • Media can be used as a bridge in peace-building,
    but it can be used to stir up the problem.

  • Oral Media Public gathering, political and
    social rallies, public addresses
  • Print Media Books, pamphlets, magazines,
    newspapers, journal
  • Electronic Media Television, Cinema, radio,
    internet, faxes, mobile

COMMUNITY MEDIA
  • It believes that everybody has a story to tell,
    unlike other training or interim media where one
    speaks on behalf of the people. In community
    media people speak for themselves.
  • Community media is an empowerment as opposed to a
    profit-making venture eg a community radio is not
    dependent on commercials and the money they bring
    in. What matters is the articulation of
    information that affects the community.
