Pauls First Missionary Journey
4
  • Acts 1326-33, 36-39
  • Brothers, children of Abraham, and you
God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this
message of salvation has been sent. The people of
Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize
Jesus, yet in condemning Him they fulfilled the
words of the prophets that are read every
Sabbath. Though they found no proper ground for a
death sentence, they asked Pilate to have Him
    executed.

5
  • When they had carried out all that was written
about Him, they took Him down from the tree and
laid Him in a tomb. But God raised Him from the
dead, and for many days He was seen by those who
had traveled with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem.
They are now His witnesses to our people. We tell
you the good news What God promised our fathers
He has fulfilled for us, their children, by
    raising up Jesus

6
  • For when David had served God's purpose in his
own generation, he fell asleep he was buried
with his fathers and his body decayed. But the
One whom God raised from the dead did not see
decay. Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know
that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is
proclaimed to you. Through Him everyone who
believes is justified from everything you could
not be justified from by the law of Moses.

7
  • God always looks further down the road than we
do, and does far more for His Church than we
    realize.

8
2 Themes in Galatians
  • An insistence on justification by God through
    faith alone, apart from works.

9
2 Themes in Galatians
  • An insistence on justification by God through
    faith alone, apart from works.
  • Freedom in Christ to live life directed by Gods
    Spirit.

10
  • Galatians 11-10
  • Paul, an apostle sent not from men nor by man,
but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who
raised Him from the dead and all the brothers
with me, To the churches in Galatia Grace and
peace to you from God our Father and the Lord
Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins to
rescue us from the present evil age, according to
the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory
    for ever and ever. Amen.

11
  • I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting
the one who called you by the grace of Christ and
are turning to a different gospel which is
really no gospel at all. Evidently some people
are throwing you into confusion and are trying to
pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or
an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other
than the one we preached to you, let him be
    eternally condemned!

12
  • As we have already said, so now I say again If
anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than
what you accepted, let him be eternally
condemned! Am I now trying to win the approval of
men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If
I were still trying to please men, I would not be
    a servant of Christ.

13

enjoying the authority and commission that came
    from God.

14
  • who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from

15
  • The purpose of Christs death, was not only to
bring to us Gods forgiveness, but having been
forgiven, it calls us live a new life, the life
not of this present evil age but life of the age
    to come.

16
