  • Collaborative,
  • Sum greater than parts

  • Research intensive to community colleges
  • The region
  • Geographically isolated,
  • Culturally diverse,
  • Island communities
  • less educational infrastructure

    problems

    Hawaii funds

    Islands
  • Only a small amount of ADAP funding put in, but
our consortium allowed us to tap into Health and
Human Services funds (110,000) to provide a
    leading-edge training

11
And recently
  • Seed funding projects that can sustain themselves

12
We share the Pacific with international partners
- SPC, FAO, USP
13
And, now we want to join with Alaska to make our
consortium even stronger
14
Whats on the horizon?
  • Food Security
  • Health and Lifestyle Impacts
  • Invasive Species
  • Energy Security
  • Global Warming
  • The Pacific Land Grants, including Alaska,
understand that these issues can most effectively
addressed by pooling its human and fiscal
resources together. We also understand that
solutions for the region may differ significantly
those of the contiguous United States.
