Sexual Relationship Education Getting it started
  • Needs Analysis questionnaire to KS4 Students on
    Sexual Relationship Education (SRE) within the
    school
  • Initial meeting between Headteacher, and Lewisham
    Primary Care Trust (LPCT) Specialist Outreach
    team
  • Set up meeting with parents to discuss, inform
    them about workshops
  • and gain their permission

  • Workshops aimed at KS4 pupils mainly Year 10
  • Six weekly sessions
  • Taught single sexed groups
  • Student led based on the needs of a particular
    group
  • Topics covering relationships, marriage and
    family life, Sexually transmitted infections
    (STIs) contraception, alcohol, drugs and
    teenage pregnancy
  • Activities pair work, group work, discussions,
    role play, specialist guest speakers

  • Young people more confident in seeking advice
    from key members of staff within the school
  • Reduction in teenage pregnancy
  • Increased levels of young people accessing local
    clinics for advice.
