• To enjoy the blessings of the Christian life

• It teaches us that for the Christian, gratitude
  should be a life attitude.
• When we understand that all we have in this world
  and in the world to come is from God and is a
  blessing from him, will we not appreciate and
  cherish these more?
• Yield Not to Temptation
• The hymn is an excellent song to teach both young
  and old in learning how to face the daily
  temptations of life.
• We as Christians should always be ready to ask
  God (through prayer) to make us victors over
  temptations, so that we can achieve the crown
  that awaits us in eternity!!

• Darlene Zschech experienced dark days in her life
  in 1993. Life seemed to be unbearable. She turned
  to Psalm 96 and wrote Shout to the Lord.
• Don Moen was on a plane going to sing for the
  funeral of his young nephew who died in a
  horrific automobile accident. As he read Isa.
  4319, I will even make a way in the wilderness,
  and rivers in the desert, God gave Don the song,
  God Will Make a Way.
• Laurie Klein going through loneliness and
  financial strain, sang, I love you Lord, and I
  lift my voice to worship You.

• Brian Doerkson moved from Canada to London to
  become a worship leader of a small church. He had
  recently lost 1 million dollars and his home in
  the collapse of a major ministry project. Three
  of his 6 children were diagnosed with a form of
  mental retardation. As he walked and prayed near
  Wimbledon Stadium, God gave him the song, Come,
  now is the time to worship.

How to get more out of singing?

• Give careful attention to the words!
• We must be careful that our enjoyment of singing
  is not like how people enjoy their popular music
  (i.e., liking the music without necessarily
  understanding the words)
• In 1 Corinthians 1415 we read, "I will sing with
  the spirit and I will sing with the understanding
  also.
• Musical instruments do not give understanding.
  The words and the heart do.

• Put your heart into your singing
• When we sing, we must do so...
• "with grace in your hearts" - Col 316
• "making melody in your heart" - Eph 519
• To sing without emotion is hypocritical, and
  condemned by Jesus! - Mt 157-8
• It will also be evident in our countenances! -
  Prov 1513

• Sing everywhere, not just at assemblies.
• Singing, like prayer, ought to be spontaneous,
  arising whenever the circumstances call for it -
  Act 1625 Psa 341-3
• Sing while you work, travel, or while alone.

• Take advantage of opportunities to sing together
• In our regular assemblies
• In Camps and Advances
• In Care Teams
• In Bible Class, or special singing sessions
• For the more you do it, the more you get out of
  it some people never experience the joy of
  fellowship in song because they do it so rarely!

  sing
• Singing is more enjoyable when we are able to
  read musical notes, sing different parts
• Make it your goal to join Bro. Daniels singing
  class every month. Every opportunity to sing is
  an opportunity to learn.
