NSLA is a peak body representing Australian state
libraries, the national libraries of Australia
and New Zealand and the NT and ACT Library
services. We collaborate ?to improve access to

PROJECT 5 USER CREATED CONTENT We will develop
a sustainable framework/tool kit for users to
build a personalised digital library space, where
they can create and protect content and share it
with family, community and peers. Users will be
able to create mashups of community and our
content and contribute this to new stores of
community memory. It will not be a centralised
hosted service. These frameworks will enable the
implementation of a consistent user experience
for users across our websites. Users will
experience similar applications, rules and
protocols regarding the creation, content
population and contribution. Timeline Report

PROJECT 7 COLLABORATIVE COLLECTING We work
in extremely similar collecting and preservation
environments, selecting and preserving unique
material related to our own state, territory or
country. We also select, preserve and manage
multiple physical and digital collections with a
level of duplication. Reducing multiple copies
and further developing consortial relationships,
such as arrangements for supply between
ourselves, with other libraries or with
publishers and suppliers will achieve economies

Factors for success
  • 1. Collaboration
  • Only through collaboration will we achieve our
    vision. We will leverage our collaborative
    effort to realise the increased opportunities of
    the digital environment
  • 2. Commitment
  • We must commit to this Plan by providing the
    resources and support required for success.
    Change on the scale proposed does not happen
    overnight, therefore commitment must be long term
    and sustained.
  • 3. Innovation and exploration
  • As embracing the digital world involves the
    implementation of new roles, service models and
    emerging technologies, our culture must adapt to
    support innovation and exploration
  • 4. Agility and flexibility
  • Due to the size and speed of change proposed,
    the success of the implementation of change will
    depend largely on our agility and flexibility.
  • 5. Refresh and revisit
  • Given the constant changing nature of the
    digital landscape it is vital that we revisit and
    refresh the Re-imaging Library Services Strategic
    Plan on a regular basis.
