Childhood

• Oprah Gail Winfrey was born on January 29, 1954.
• She was born to unmarried parents, mom-18
  searching for job, dad-20 years old in the army.
• Oprah stayed with her grandmother on her farm at
  age 4.
• Her name was originally supposed to be Orpah, but
  someone in the hospital messed it up and it
  became Oprah!!!

Childhood

• Oprah was very smart as a child. As she went to
  kindergarten, the kids were just learning the
  alphabet, numbers and shapes. Oprah told her
  teacher that it was to easy for her. She moved up
  to first grade.
• At age 6, she moved back to live with her mother
  and her new baby sister, Patrica. Her mother
  worked hard as a maid, and she didnt earn much
  money.
