About the Author
  • Linda Sue Park was born in Urbana, Illinois on
    March 25, 1960, and grew up outside Chicago. The
    daughter of Korean immigrants, she has been
    writing poems and stories since she was four
    years old, and her favorite thing to do as a
    child was read.

    with him under a bridge where he lives and dies

  • A small village on the west coast of Korea,mid-to
    late 12th century.

Summary
  • Well, first they tell that there is a boy name
    Tree-ear that when his parents died he was
    supposed to go to a monk temple to live,but the
    monks had sickness in the temple so he live with
    Crane-man and when the Monks came to get him he
    would not go with them so he stayed there for the
    rest of his life.Then.Later on he started to
    watch this old potter named Min do Pottery ever
    afternoon then final Min caught Tree-ear looking
    at his work and said he was stealing from him but
    when Min said something to him he was startled
    that he dropped and broke one of his works of
    art.Min told him to leave but Tree-ear ask could
    work the debt for what he had broken.First Min
    had him to chop wood for the kiln .While Tree-ear
    was chopping wood he got the biggest blister and
    it busted open. When he got back home Crane-man
    help him clean it before it got
    infected.Crane-man offered to help with wood but
    Tree-ear would not let for he was afraid that he
    might hurt his good leg while chopping wood.Then
    the Royal Emissary from the palace in Songdo came
    looking for pottery worthy to go to the
    palace.then he gave Min a task to bring two works
    of art to the palace in a few days.So Min gave
    the to Tree-ear to take the vases to the
    palace,But before he went Aijama Mins wife told
    Tree-ear that they had a son but he died from
    fever.So she gave Tree-ear his jacket for the
    trip.Then he went on the journey and on the way
    while was make a fire a fox came to him and
    Crane-man told him that when you look in a fox it
    controlls your body and leads to its lair to be
    devoured.Then it disappeared later on he went on
    a path that Crane-man told him about and got
    robbed by two robbers and threw the vases off the
    cliff into the rocks below. When he almost gave
    up hope he found out that he did not hear the
    second vase crash he thought it probabaly didnt
    think it broke but when he went down to the rocks
    he found the first one shattered into a million
    pieces. The second one was broken but not as much
    as the first one was though so he found a large
    shard of the vase and took it to the emissary and
    he accepted it.To bad when he came home there was
    terrible news waiting for him.Min told him that
    Crane-man drowned in the river from under the
    bridge from where he lived and the only thing he
    had to remember him by was the little clay monkey
    that he gave to him before he went on the
    journey.Then Aijama said since he doesnt have
    anywhere to stay he could live with them then she
    asked could she change his name to Hyung-Pi he
    accepted his and started to live with them.THE
    END.
