Why a European Networkof GMO-free Regions?
2003 Conclusion of the de-facto moratorium
with the finalization of the EU legislative
framework with the GM food and feed Regulation
the Recommendation on coexistence
Concerns in those Regions where rural policies
had been strongly oriented toward quality and
origin labeled production
Tuscany and Upper Austria started thinking about
a joint initiative to facilitate the application
of the precautionary principle in the use of GM
crops and related policy. Considered ways of
claiming the right to create GM-free areas
