    in depth review.
  • New Product Evaluation Panel meets on a quarterly
    basis to determine product acceptability.
  • Products are added to the APL/PDPL or a letter
    requesting additional information is sent to the
    vendor.

    Experimental Features for at least three years.
  • A QIT has been organized to review our current
    process.

What is anExperimental Feature?
  • FHWA defines an experimental feature as
  • a material, process, method, equipment item,
    traffic operational device, or other feature
    that
  • (1) has not been sufficiently tested under
    actual service conditions to merit acceptance
    without reservation in normal highway
    construction, or
  • (2) has been accepted but needs to be compared
    with alternative acceptable features for
    determining their relative merits and cost
    effectiveness.
