INCITS

• International Committee for Information
  Technology Standardization
• Called X3 for many years up to 1998
• Had to change because of web search problem
• Holds the US TAG for several key ISO groups

Storage Interface Committees

• First formed pre-1977
• Splits occurred in 1982 1995
• The committee names all changed in 1993 as well
• Now 3 active groups T10, T11, T13

• Nearly all widely-used storage peripheral
  interfaces for last 20 years defined by these
  committees

Cooperative Strategy

• Intend is to coordinate activities between INCITS
  IMSS to
• Ensure timeliness wrt other work
• Follow latest IETF directions, take advantage of
  expertise
• T11.5 has approved a process for this
• Run an internal project as usual, including
  Letter Ballot, on a draft MIB
• When all issues that can be resolved are done,
  transfer change control to IMSS

• First two MIB projects approved in T11.5 in
  December 2003
• Name Server MIB
• Domain Manager MIB (decided to change name to
  Fabric Address Manager MIB is better mesh with
  other T11 projects)

  part of approval process
• Ballots closed 6/03/2004

  (3 yes ballots included comments) 86 comments

Project Status

• T11.5 hoped to have comment resolution completed
  in time to submit completed internet-drafts for
  this meeting
• Apologies for the fact that this didnt happen
• Group met twice in July, is meeting later this
  week in Colorado, and again in October
• Target is to submit for November IETF

• Also approved two new projects
• Routing Information MIB (called SM-RTM)
• Fibre Shortest Path First (FSPF, called SM-FSM)
• Target is to pass completed drafts to imss _at_ 62nd
  IETF (March 2005)
