Phase Two

• Recently finished Phase Two of the Program
• Offered cholesterol, blood pressure and body
  composition screenings
• In all, we have screened over 10,000 individuals
• Attended shows in California, Indiana,
  Pennsylvania and Colorado in Phase Two

Fired Up For Fitness

• Launched in January
• Have over 1500 individuals signed up
• 1st Annual Grand Prize Drawing was held in Denver
  at FRI
• Award winner received a cable cross machine
  donated by FreeMotion Fitness

Work Group

• The Work Group has assisted with the development
  of the Program and will be meeting after the 1st
  of the year to discuss Phase Three and Phase Four
  of the Program.
• The current Work Group members are
• American Heart Association,
• National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute
• Medical Reserve Corps
• American Dietetics Association
• U.S. Fire Administration

Erron Kinney - Spokesman

• In September, Heather and I flew to Nashville to
  meet with Erron Kinney, a pro-football player
  with the Tennessee Titans.
• Erron has agreed to become the spokesperson for
  the Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program will
  appear at many events on behalf of the council.

Phase Three

• We are preparing to launch Phase Three of the
  Program
• We are still looking for sponsorship
  opportunities for Phase Three
• We will continue to attend shows in Phase Three
  and keep the Fired Up For Fitness Challenge
  running
• Several new aspects will be incorporated

Phase Four

• We recently submitted applications for Phase Four
  of the Program
• In this round of grants, the 30 match has been
  eliminated
• We have applied for 1,000,000.00 for NVFC as
  well as 1,000,000.00 for the NVFC Foundation
• NVFC Foundation will hire employees to assist
  with managing the grant as well as contract with
  NVFC on certain aspects

Phase Four Cont.

• The NVFC grant will once again target the
  national trade shows as well as the online
  audience.
• One new aspect of this grant will be a national
  symposium to discuss the results of the program.
• The Foundation grant will target states, visiting
  10 states over the course of the year to provide
  workshops and screenings.
