What is the role?

  • Are we hitting targets in Swim21 clubs?
  • Are we hitting targets in getting athletes into
    the British Team in all disciplines?
  • Have we analysed if our competition structure is
    delivering for your clubs in all disciplines?
  • Does the Board have a clear view on what their
    targets are in this area?

Workforce development
  • Are we hitting our targets for training of
    coaches and teachers?
  • Are we developing younger and enough technical
    officials?
  • Have we trained enough volunteers and are we also
    targeting younger people?
  • Do the Representatives have a strategy in this
    area and a clear role in the delivery and a plan?

Health and Activity
  • Can you contribute to increasing participation in
    the region?
  • Has the region made enough partnerships with
    people in this area?
  • Do the Representatives have a Facility Strategy
    for the region to cater for the increased demand?

What can we achieve?
  • Purpose should proceed structure -
  • Are we making a difference?
  • Have we got a clear plan?
  • Have we communicated that plan?
  • Have we been challenging?
  • Are the Representatives being asked to make
    strategic decisions and monitor delivery, or deal
    with minutia?

What can we do?
  • Ensure the Representatives formulate and review
    their Vision and Strategic plan and annually
    monitor performance against those plans
  • Be responsible for the leadership and management
    of the staff and the administration of the Region
    in the execution of Regional Policies
  • Together with the Chairman to ensure the Board
    receives relevant advice and information on all
    matters to enable it to fulfil its corporate
    governance responsibilities

  • New and improved Swim21 now inclusive of all
    disciplines and meeting LTAD principles
  • All disciplines now developed their LTAD
    framework
  • Established PESSCL projects in all Regions
  • Schools competition framework
  • Top up consultation and funding secured (5.4m)
  • Age programme working with 90 swimmers
  • Close links between WC programmes and
    National/Regional Officers
  • Facility opportunities through Community Club
    Development Programme ( 1.6m)
  • Aquatic strategies
