THE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS CAMPUS The Campus is the
largest in Poland and comprises 18 students
hotels on the area over 16 ha. The hotels have
in total 8 273 places ( 5400 for our University
students). The Campus also comprises student
clubs, RAK Cracow Student Radio, post
office, bank, playgrounds with tennis court,
groceries, supermarket newspaper stands,
bookshop, bars and restaurants, service
shops, kindergarten. All student hotels have
optic fibre connection with University server in
some there are local computer networks and
internet links. The Campus includes also the
University Health Service Complex.

General conclusions

AGH-University of Science and Technology since
the moment of its establishment in 1919 follows
its mission not only as the major provider of
engineers and specialists to many sectors of
Polish industry and economy but also as the
research centre and culture creative institution.

Concentration of the most of the heavy industry
plants in southern Poland made the University
often the only (e.g. steel and aluminium, coal
and mineral mines ) plants but always important
partner and research centre and the research
base for industrial sector.

Multidisciplinary structure of AGH-UST made that
provided by the University service to the region
and society concerns full spectrum of activities
including research, technical and scientific
expertises, advisory service and post-diploma
education (LLL, Open University)

Among 205 works performed by AGH-UST research
teams for Malopolska Province (value of 9,8 mln
zl) in the four years period of time (2000-2004)
one can find many which are of particular
importance for the city its environments and the
region

noise reduction, - elaboration of numerical
forms of the plans of a state managements,
monitoring and control systems of water and
wastes managements in different Malopolska
sub-regions, development of new high technologies

park in Kraków (Centrum Zaawansowanych
Technologii) and co-partners in establishing of
academic centre for interdisciplinary research
(AKCENT).

Both enterprises are oriented toward the most
efficient use of the intellectual and
experimental potential of the Krakóws
universities and research institutions in the
work for the region and its society.
