Troop Care Project a Success
The Dickinson Student Council completed a 10-day
drive forOperation Troop Care. This is the
third year that the Student Councilat Dickinson
has participated in Troop Care.
Thanks to the students, parents, teachers, and c
ommunity for donating so many bags and boxes
ofneeded supplies for our troops in Iraq.  The
supplies will be shippedcourtesy of the West
Point Society of Greater Houston and Mrs.
JoannieParr.  This year, Mrs. Parr estimates
that she is mailing packagesto help more than
2,000 soldiers. One of the biggest requests tha
t Parrreceives from the soldiers is for lots of
hard candy to give to theIraqi children.
A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Boehm and h
er sewing friends who carefully made several neck
coolers for the troops.  Many classes from
Dickinson wrote letters or drew pictures for the
troops. The students and teachers will be anxio
usly awaiting to hear back from our service men
and women who are stationed overseas.
The Dickinson Lost and Found located in the
teachers lunch room in the cafeteria is full!
If your child has misplaced their Dolphin fleece
jacket, coat, hat, lunch kit or any other item,
its probably in the Lost and Found! Please check
for your items as soon as possible.
Unclaimed items will be either donated or thrown
away, depending on condition, soon!

SEM stands for Schoolwide Enrichment Model. In
January, all students in the 4th and 5th grades
at Dickinson participated in Enrichment Clusters
-- activities based upon their interests.  For 1
½ hours on three Friday mornings, student studied
crime scene investigation, monsters and
mysteries, magic, origami, learning to speak
Spanish, acting, gardening, science engineering
and other topics. It was a very high-interest,
high-energy time with students using their higher
level thinking skills.  The clusters were
intended to encourage independent thinking, and
self-driven, life-long learning. They were also a
lot of fun! If you are an expert in a particular
area, please let Mrs. Roehling know so that you
can share your knowledge with the wonderful
students at Dickinson. Theyll love you for it!
Check out SEM photos on the back of the calendar
in this issue of Dolphin Splash.
Thank you Lamar CISD for our new computers!
