• Noni Is Effective In Joint Disorders Such Us

• Rheumatoid Arthritis
• Polyarthrits
• Juvenile Arthritis
• Gout

Gout is caused by Hyperuricaemia
No Studies on Uricosuric Effect of Noni. So,
for the first time Uricouric Effect of Noni has
been studied.

METHODS
Uricosuric Effect Studied by Phenol Red
Elimination In rats
Principle
Uricosuric Agents Delay The Excretion of Phenol
Red
So Plasma Level of Phenol Red Increases

Procedure

• Noni Administered Orally in Rats
• 30 Min. later Phenol Red (Phenol
  Sulphonaphathalein)
• Injected I.V Though Tail Vein.
• 2.5 ml./ kg. Saline Flushed by the same route.
• Blood Collected by Retro-orbital puncture At 30,
  
• 60 and 180 min.
• Blood Diluted with 2ml of Saline.
• Centrifuged And Phenol Red Concentration was
• determined in supernatant spectro photo
  metrically.

SERUM URIC ACID

• SERUM URIC ACID CONCENTRATION DETRRMINED BY JOG
  METHOD AT 5,10,15 AQND 20 DAYS AFTER NONI
  ADMINISTRATION.

URIC CONCENTRATION IN URINE

• NONI FED ANIMALS MAINTAINED IN A METABOLIC CAGE
• URINE COLLECTED WAS ESTIMATED FOR URIC ACID ON
  THE 5TH, 10TH, 15TH AND 20TH DAY .
• ALL RESULTS WERE COMPARED WITH PROBENECID A
  STANDARD URICOSURIC AGENT.

DISCUSSION

• PHENOL RED CONCENTRATION INCREASED IN PLASMA.
  EFFECT COMPARABLE TO PROBENECID
• DECLINE IN SERUM URIC ACID CONCENTRATION
• EFFECT SIMILAR TO PROBENECID
• URIC ACID ELIMINATION IN URINE ALSO INCREASED
• EFFECT MORE THAN PROBENECID
• ALL THESE INDICATE URICOSURIC EFFECT OF NONI
• THESE PROVE BENEFICIAL EFFECT OF NONI IN GOUT
