Preparation
  • Read Taylor et al Chapter 27- Asepsis (pages 718
    -720, 732-737), Skin Integrity and wound care
    (pages 1185-1187)
  • Perform documented practice for at least 1(one)
    hour
  • Fill in individual practice record and have
    instructor sign.
  • Make an appointment for check-off by signing up
    on the sheet in the designated area.
  • Complete 1-4 before being checked off
  • Allotted time 20 minutes including
    documentation

  • To absorb drainage

  • To splint or immobilize the wound site and
    thereby facilitate healing

  • Serous exudates- Clear
  • Purulent exudates- Pus
  • Sanguineous exudates- red
  • Serosanguineous- clear with some red tinges
  • Purosanguineous- Pus with some red tinges
