Anu father of the gods

• Anu, the Great father and king of the gods.
• He lived in heaven and his symbol was a star.
• He came to Earth either at times of great crisis,
  or in ceremonial visitations - when he was
  accompanied by his spouse Nammu (ANTU).

Nammu mother gave birth to heaven and earth

• Goddess of the watery abyss, the primeval sea.
• She may be one of the earliest of the gods within
  Sumerian cosmology as she gave birth to heaven
  and earth.
• She was both the mother of all the gods and the
  wife of Anu.

Enil Second in Command

• The second and most powerful deity of Sumeria.
• God of heaven and earth, firstborn of the main
  god Anu. Dispenser of kingship, chief of the
  assembly of the gods, granter of agriculture, and
  the lord of airspace.
• He was considered a supreme god by the Sumerians
  and by the Sumerian gods.
• He helped mankind by bestowing the knowledge of
  farming, using the plow and the pick-ax.

Enki (Ea) Creator of the humans

• Enki was the god who created the first humans.
• He unraveled the secrets of life and death.
• He is the god of water, creation, and fertility.
• He also holds dominion over the land. He is the
  keeper of the 'me' - the divine laws - the rules
  of the universe.

Sin Moon god

• The moon god.
• Wise and secretive, the enemy of all evil
  spirits.
• He is pictured as an old man with a long beard
  who flies through the sky in his sailboat every
  night.

Huwawa Guardian of the Cedar

• Guardian of the cedar of the heart in the the
  "land of the living",
• Huwawa has dragon's teeth, a lion's face, a roar
  like rushing flood water, huge clawed feet and a
  thick mane.
• He lived there in a cedar house.

Utu (Shamash) god of the Sun

• He is the god of the sun and of justice.
• Decrees the fate of the dead.
• He is in charge of the "land of the living.

Ishtar goddess of love and war

• She is the goddess of love, procreation, and war.
  
• She is armed with a quiver and bow.
• Convinced Anu to send the Bull of Heaven to kill
  Gilgamesh after he rejected her.
