All your HF antenna set-up, rigs, Amps, PCs can

Simply start with a standard Notebook with a
SoundCard
On Top Level SO2R (to archive a high Qso/h rate
and to SP for multis while transmitting the
main station) SO2R increase also the station
fault tolerance in contest

cheap X/Y oscilloscope might be of a good
value (detecting the RX signal offset
frequency, wrong polarity, drifting etc.)

Question How many Qso/h to get on RTTY ?
Average rate is abt. 30-60 Q/h. An expert works
more than 100 Q/h in a pile-up. In total 1000
QSOs is a good number in 24 hours. Last year
CQWW CT9L SOAB made 2211 Q, HO1A 3049 Q in
MOST and HC8N 3894 Q in MO2T
Claimed CQWW 2002 are SOAB AA5AU 2443 Q,
MO2T HC8N 4795 Q, MOAB LY5A 4282 Q, and
SOAB LP P43P 2793 Qsos.

Benefit the SO2R on RTTY While receiving the
RST/MSG on main station you have a lot of time
to check out the band opening(s), play and do
some SP on the other radio.
Great opportunity to QSY for multipliers - get
em fast and easy. (My radio, linear and
antenna - whole setup tunes automatically up
in 20 msec). On RTTY the PC decodes the slow
data - your eyes and ears are free to listen
the other radio

SO2R Warning 1 Pay attention not to
transmit simultaneously both radios on same
band - or you might easily become a less happy
owner of a damaged front end in your rig
SO2R Warning 2 Do not violate the contest
rules with two TX on. Above can be prevented
by SO2R control box which keeps tight overall
system control in all hassle of the battle
even in late hours.
