What is studying abroad
  • Studying abroad is the act of a student pursuing
educational opportunities in a foreign country.
Typically classes taken while studying abroad
award credits transferable to higher education
institutions in the home country. However,
students may pursue these opportunities at any
age and may not require college credit. Students
studying abroad may live in a dormitory or
apartment with other students or with a "host
family", a group of people who live in that
country and agree to provide student lodging.

4
Why to Study Abroad?
  • When we interviewed some students who would want
to study abroad they had different reasons for
that. They said they would like to get better
education, be responsible and confident, have a
chance to discover themselves, to live away from
their parents control. Others thought it would
be a good chance to learn about another country,
culture and language. Most of them want to do it
for fun, what is better than having a good time
    while learning?

5
Advantages for Studying Abroad
  • As we mentioned before, there are many
advantages for studying abroad. Some of which
    are
  • outlining personal goals students would feel
obliged to bring something valuable with them to
make their families proud, ( certificates)
  • Get a chance to meet different people of
different nationalities and know about their
    cultural backgrounds.
  • Get a chance to understand and try to live
beyond life barriers (understand that people are
    different under the surface).

6
  • Gain experience, skills, flexibility,
    independence, leadership skills, ambition,
    maturity, and more.
  • Have a chance to participate in many discussions,
seminars, workshops, write some reports or do
projects. In other words, you may learn through
doing something rather than just by reading and
    memorizing.
  • Have many chances to get acquainted with local
    people.

7
Disadvantages of Studying Abroad

uncomfortable without your family and people you
    know you well.

    trust).
  • Feel like an outcast.
  • Fees and expenses.
  • May find problems with the local language.

8

9
Quotes and Pictures
  • It is not like going on a vacation in another
country where you are living in hotels and eating
gourmet meals every night. You live in that
country like normal people live in that country.
Ive been there, Ive lived with the people, and
Ive had a taste of the culture.
  • Sara Watkins, History, Philosophy, Ghana

10
  • I met a lot of people of different
nationalities, cultures and beliefs, which wasnt
so hard to cope with, but I realized that
although we have our own beliefs, thoughts and
customs, we are still human beings who can manage
    to live together.
  • I now believe in DONT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU
    SEE IN MOVIES
  • If I life goes back, I would choose to study
    abroad again.
  • Ahmed Riyad,
  • Foundation in Communication and IT, Pembroke
    shire College ,
  • South of Wales

11
  • I would recommend to anybody who has a chance to
travel abroad to go for it, no matter what. It
is an experience you will never forget and you
will have for the rest of your life. With every
place Ive been to, Ive come home with a new
experience and a new outlook on life. You learn
not to take for granted what we have in this
    country.
  • Marian Mohammad
  • Interior Design, Alexandria University, Egypt.

12
  • It was the most rewarding experience of my life.
They welcomed me. They accepted me. I learned
more from the teachers and students (in the
Ecuadoran schools) than I could ever have taught
them. The whole experience was very eye-opening.
  • Any student whos interested in studying abroad
should grasp the opportunity and not let anything
stand in your way. It will change you.
  • Deena Haweld, Spanish and International Studies,
    Spain.
