WWII K-W-L

• K-W-L is a strategy used to brainstorm knowledge
  on a specific topic. It also allows you to guide
  your learning by posing questions.
• K What you KNOW
• W What you WANT to know
• L What you LEARNED
• You are now going to create a KWL for WWII
• Make sure you follow specific directions and
  guidelines!

WWII KWL

• In the K column you are going to brainstorm
  what you already know about each WWII topic
• Try and get at least three items for every row!
• In the W column you are going to come up with
  three questions on what you want to know.
• This will help guide your learning throughout the
  unit.
• At the end of the unit, you will fill out the L
  column so do NOT lose this chart!

WWII Government Jigsaw

• First on your slip of paper, write down your
  favorite pizza topping. Do NOT show anyone!!!
• During WWII, new governments rise to power
  throughout Europe.
• To learn about each type of government, you are
  going to participate in a jigsaw reading
  activity.
• The class will be split into four groups each
  group will have a different type of government
  from WWII
• Democracy, Fascism, Nazism, and Communism
• As you read your ½ sheet of paper, fill in the
  corresponding column on your graphic organizer.
• Be ready to teach the class about it!

• Now that you know about your type of government,
  we are going to do a simulation on their method
  of rule.
• Each group is now a country pick a leader of
  your country!
• As a country you are going to order a one-topping
  pizza.
• Your pizza may ONLY have one topping!
• The catch ? You must reach this decision based on
  how your type of government makes decisions
• Be ready to tell the class about your discussion
  process!

• Pick two representatives from your country to
  speak to the class.
• While you present, address the following
  questions
• What are the beliefs of your government?
• Who was the WWII leader of your type of
  government?
• What pizza did you decide to order?
• How did you come to this decision?
• Were there any problems/arguments while reaching
  this decision?
• Do you think everyone in your group supports this
  decision? Why or why not?
