  • February 4th, 1913 was when Rosa McCauley was
    born
  • In 1943, Rosa Parks joined the NAACP
  • In 1955 Rosa was arrested b/c she refused to move
    from her seat when a white man needed to sit
    there.
  • October 24th, 2005 Rosa Parks died at age 92..?

General Information
  • Rosa was born in Tuskegee, Alabama. But
  • She was raised in Montgomery. Rosa had
  • been raised as a strong, independent, brave
  • Person. She cared about every single detail. Her
    Mother and Father names were Leona and James
    McCauley. Until age 11, Rosa was home schooled.
    Then, she went to Montgomery Institute for girls.

Rosas Accomplishments
  • 1987- Rosa founds the Rosa and Raymond institute
    for self development, which offers guidance to
    young people. (detnews.com)
  • 1995- The Rosa Parks learning center opens at
    Boston Commons. (detnews.com)
  • President Clinton awards Rosa Parks the
    congressional Gold medal, the highest honor a
    civilian can receive.
  • 2000- The Rosa Parks Museum and library opens in
    Montgomery, Alabama on the corner where she
    refused to give up her bus seat in 1955.

Challenges in Life
  • On December 1st Rosa refused to get up from her
    seat to a white man then she was arrested.
  • As a child Rosa had tonsillitis and was small
    even for a child. (Her family was kid of poor so
    That was probably hard to deal with).
  • It was very hard to overcome the white
    peoplesuch as the Ku-Klux-Klan, ordinary people
    and for example the bus driver.

  • Rosa Parks was very independent but worked very
    well with other people, She was also a strong
    leader and brave. Rosa really stood up and lead
    many people for civil rights.

  • I like the way Rosa figured out problems. She
    never gave up.

    dreams and not be afraid to step up.

  • Well, as a child Rosa was always afraid of the
    Ku-Klux-Klan coming to her house and killing her
    and her family. She wanted to overcome the KKK,
    and show that African Americans arent any
    different from white people.
