What is the conflict in Brazil's tropical
rainforest?

• There are a lot of conflicts but the main one is
  between the tribal people and the Brazilian
  government and the Multinational Corporations.
  There is sometimes conflicts with Greenpeace but
  usually they are the tribal peoples friends.

Why are the tribes people involved in the
conflict?

• The reason why the tribal people are in this
  conflict is because they live in the rain forest
  and all their cultural history is being lost as
  more and more rainforest is being destroyed. The
  Brazilian government and the multinational
  corporations are trying to cut down the rain
  forest so they can build cities and farms.

What is their position as regards the rainforest

• Most people dont know about the millions of
  people who live in the rain forests. There are
  about 50,000,000 tribal people living in al the
  rainforests  These people depend on the forests
  for their food and shelter. And these people
  depend on the rainforest to survive. They get
  their medicines from the rainforest and their
  food so the more of the rainforest that we cut
  down the more people we are killing.

rainforests of Brazil? Part 1

• The tribal people have many problems. The main
  problem they have is the forest being cut down
  and that will mean that they cant carry on the
  lifestyle because they cant do slash and burn.
  Also they are being wiped out losing their
  history. This is because the Indigenous people
  think that their medicine man has created a cure
  for cancer and maybe AIDS but if he doesnt pass
  on this information before he dies then the
  people have lost thousands of years of research.

• The Waorani tribe who live in the amazons
  rainforest and are struggling to survive because
  the rainforest being chopped down. they cant
  hunt for monkeys (like this person is in the
  pitcher) because the trees are disappearing.

What are the benefits for the tribal people?

• The main benefit that the tribal people have is
  the rainforest because they get all their
  medicine and food from. They know how to find and
  use wild plants and how to farm small crops in a
  sustainable manner.
