Indian Government Launch First Tribal Tourism
Circuit Project in Chhattisgarh
Tourism in Chhattisgarh is set to scale new
heights with the launch of first tribal tourism
circuit project which was inaugurated on Friday
by the Union minister K J Alphons in Gangrel. The
project aims to connect 13 sites of tourist
interest to give a boost to tribal tourism in the
state and comes under Swadesh Darshan
programme started by the Tourism Ministry in 2014
to support the growth of tourism circuits
in tribal regions of the country.

Tribal Parts of India
The scheme was started by the Ministry of Tourism
to channel new opportunities in the tourism
sector by developing infrastructure in the tribal
parts of India. This will bring forth endless
possibilities in tribal tourism which lie
unexplored in the
remote regions of Chhattisgarh. The destinations
covered in the project are Gangrel, Jashpur,
Chitrakoot, Kunkuri, Mainpat, Maheshpur, Kurdar,
Kamleshpur, Sarodadadar, Kondagaon, Nathiya
Nawagaon, Tirthgarh and Jagdalpur. The tribal
tourism circuit intends to showcase the immense
diversity of art and culture in these tribal
villages by putting its efforts in improving the
facilities for tourists.

Destination for Tribal Tours
The plan enlists development of log huts, art and
craft shops, tourist centres, art workshop
centres, nature trails and installation of solar
lighting to attract both domestic and
international tourists. This development in the
tribal regions is likely to increase the
popularity of Tribal travel packages among
domestic and international tourists, this is the
good news for all travel agent of India. With a
population comprising of one third tribals,
Chhattisgarh prides itself on being a
prime destination for tribal tours. Dominated by
dense forests, waterfalls and gushing streams of
rivers, Chhattisgarh has plenty of spellbinding
locations which will definitely lure nature

villages. The wildlife and vegetation of

project is likely to generate new avenues of
employment for people belonging to tribal
communities and will also enhance the existing
facilities to provide a comfortable stay to
tourists in the remote tribal regions.
