  • Eccl. 95, the Living know they shall die.
  • Jas. 414. They do not know when!
  • In view of the certainty of death, and the
    uncertainty of when, coupled with the certainty
    of the judgment to come, Heb. 927, we need to
    set our houses in order!

2 Kings 201-6
  • V. 1. In those days was Hezekiah sick unto
    death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz
    came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the
    Lord, Set thine house in order for thou shalt
    die and not live.
  • V. 2. Then he turned his face to the wall, and
    prayed unto the Lord saying,
  • V. 3. I beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I
    have walked before thee in truth and with a
    perfect heart, and have done that which is good
    in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

  • V. 4. And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone
    out into the middle court, that the word of the
    Lord came to him, saying,
  • V. 5. Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain
    of my people, Thus saith the Lord, the God of
    David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have
    seen thy tears behold I will heal thee on the
    third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the
    Lord.
  • V. 6. And I will add unto thy days fifteen years
    and I will deliver thee and this city out of the
    hand of the king of Assyria and I will defend
    this city for mine own sake, and for my servant
    Davids sake.

Facts About Hezekiah
  • He was the King of Judah, 726-697 BC.
  • The 13th of 20 kings, I Kings 12-2 Kings 25
  • 25 years old when he began to reign he reigned
    29 years, 2 Kings 181.
  • Contemporary with Isaiah, Isaiah 11 2 Kgs. 201
  • He was the son of Ahaz, 2 Kings 1620.
  • Ahaz reigned 16 years was evil, 2 Kings 162-4.
  • 2 Chron. 2819 He encouraged moral decline in
    Judah and had been continually unfaithful to the
    Lord, NKJV.
  • He brought ruin upon the nation!

Facts about Hezekiah (cont)
  • 2 Kgs. 183. He did that which was right
  • 2 Kgs. 185,6, He trusted in the Lord God of..
  • 2 Chron. 293-36. Cleansed the temple and
    restored worship in Jerusalem.
  • During a time of siege he built a tunnel from the
    Gihon Spring to bring water to Jerusalem, 2 Kings
    2020 2 Chron. 3230.
  • In times of Crises He prayed God answered!
  • 2 Kings 1914-19.
  • 2 Kings 201-2

But Hezekiah was Not Perfect!
  • After God spared his life, the king of Babylon
    sent envoys to Hezekiah,who showed him all the
    vast treasures of his house, 2 Kings 2012-19
    Isaiah 391-8. Isaiah rebuked Hezekiah, and
    informed him that his descendants would be
    carried to Babylon, whose king would make eunuch
    of them, and they would serve the king of
    Babylon.

  • V. 1. Set your house in order, for thou shalt
    die and not live.
  • V. 2. He turned his face to the wall, and
    prayed. Cf. Isaiah 382
  • He petitioned God to remember
  • How I walked before thee in truth,
  • And with a perfect (loyal), NKJV, heart
  • and have done that which is good in thy sight.

  • He was only 39 years old (2 Kg. 182 206).
  • He had no heirs to the throne. Manasseh, his son
    and successor, was born three years after his
    recovery, 2 Kings 211.

  • The soul goes to the hadean realm to await the
    judgment, Luke 1619-31.

  • Making a will, Hebrews 915-17.
  • Repairing broken human relations.

  • Social, Romans 138,10.
  • Spiritual, Matt. 523 1815-17.
  • Doing what it takes to be right with God!
  • Alien Sinners Must Obey the Gospel.
  • Members of the church who have fallen away must
    repent, pray, confess, Acts 822 I John 17-9

Conclusion
  • Most People, when they die, have not set their
    houses in order especially as it pertains to
    their relationship with God.
  • Dont make that Mistake!!
