2
What is multimedia? The presentation of
information by a computer using graphics,
animation, sound and text.
What is a Presentation Package? The presentation
of information by a computer using graphics,
animation, sound and text. A presentation
package allows the user to create a series of
pages or slides which can include sound, video,
text and graphics.
3
Creating a Presentation Slides are displayed one
after the other, in order, this is called linear
linkage of slides. The presentation elements
text, graphics, audio and video are gathered and
then assembled. Text may be entered at the
keyboard or imported from a word processing
package. Graphics may be imported from a Clip
Art image library or from a graphics package.
4
Creating a Presentation Audio may be added from
a sound library or input using a
microphone. Video images may be imported from a
digital video camera and edited using a suitable
application. Non-linear editing is where clips
may be arranged in any order, not just the order
in which they were filmed.
5
Creating a Presentation Digital video takes up a
large quantity of backing storage space. Image
capture involves using a digital camera or
scanner. Hyperlinks are links from a slide to
web pages, other documents or programs. e.g
http//www.bbc.co.uk Hyperlinks are non-linear,
that is, they do not go to the next slide in
sequence.
6
Creating a Presentation Transition is the name
given to the effect shown on the screen when
moving between slides. Animation is the way in
which elements of a presentation may be
programmed to move around the screen. The
slide master is a slide which controls the layout
of other slides in the presentation.
7
Creating a Presentation A template is a ready
made up document containing guides or
placeholders which can accept objects such as
text or graphics. A wizard or assistant is a
program which leads the user step by step through
the creation of a document.
8
Creating a Presentation Presentations are
usually delivered using a multimedia
projector. An interactive whiteboard allows a
user to interact with the presentation. Presenta
tions may be set up to run automatically in a
kiosk.
