A. Mexican Constitution of 1824
  • 1. The Constitution of 1824 was put into place
    after Mexico won their independence from Spain
    and was based on states rights. (States have the
    right to make decisions not the federal
    government)

    they were use to that type of government in

    document because it was the first constitution in
    Texas.

  • 1. In attempts to control the number of Anglos in
    Texas, Mexico outlawed immigration into Texas by
    Anglos, but encouraged Mexicans and Europeans to
    move in.

    duties on all goods entering from American into

    independence.

    Anna agrees to the resolutions passed in the
    Conventions of 1832 and 1833 except for giving
    Texas independence from Coahuila.

    Mexico, his letter asking for Independence was
    intercepted by Mexican officials, and he is
    arrested for treason against the Mexican
    government.

    he returns to Texas, but realizes he cannot make
    peace.

    Texas and colonists refused to give it up without
    written orders from Mexico.

    protect the cannon- promising to use it if

  • 4. The Texans fired at the Mexican troops who
    retreated to San Antonio, while waving a flag
    that said Come and Take It to prove their
    defiance to Mexican government.

    and was proof that Texas was willing to fight
    Mexico.

    protect themselves from Mexican attacks.

    the military in Texas.

    to write the Declaration of the People of Texas
    to again speak of their loyalty to Mexico but to

    have ignored the Constitution of 1824.
