Name Change

• Academic Program Articulation Steering Committee
  (APASC) is now called the AZTransfer Steering
  Committee.
• The change was approved at the strategic planning
  retreat in June.

Mission
The AZTransfer Steering Committee, an
organization of academic leaders, supports
successful transfer of credits and degree
completion for students in all public and tribal
postsecondary institutions in Arizona.

Goals

1. Provide tools to support transfer.
2. Promote curricular alignment in majors across
   institutions.
3. Support credit and academic mobility to improve
   student transfer.
4. Promote and encourage collegiality and
   communication among all levels of public
   postsecondary educators.
5. Continue to provide the highest quality of
   service and leadership to all public and tribal
   institutions in the areas of transfer and
   articulation.

What is ASSIST?

• Arizona State System for Information on Student
  Transfer.
• A relational database containing enrollment and
  degree information on students attending
  Arizonas public universities and community
  college districts.

• 495 survey participants from institutions
  statewide.
• 77 of respondents were faculty
• 46 indicated they were a faculty member with
  advising responsibilities.
• General satisfaction of AZTransfer and APASC is
  strong, yet AZTransfer is slightly higher.
• Transfer system strengths guaranteed course
  transfer, creates consistency/standardization.
• Weaknesses lack of student familiarity,
  inconsistent academic rigor between community
  colleges and universities

Preliminary Conclusions and Recommendations

• Arizonas transfer system has made productivity
  gains since 2006, but advancements are
  incremental.
• Formalized organizational structures need
  authority to foster consistency and press for
  statewide accountability
• Awareness, training, and student advising support
  is vital to ensure students receive consistent
  guidance.
• Strong communications and easy to access
  web-based resources are prudent.
• Refine operating procedures to support the
  growing and maturing transfer system.
• Create a uniform AGEC standard and automatically
  confer the credential.
