Measures to Reduce the Fire Risk

• Ban smoking materials, lighters, matches and
  other means of ignition
• Ban lighting of fires
• In special circumstances, fire must be authorised
  by Head of Establishment under strict safety
  controls

• Allows the Fire Safety Officer to assess and
  improve the Fire Safety Plan
• Allows staff the opportunity to learn their roles
  and actions
• At least every 2 months at irregular intervals
• Include the local fire authority and rescue
  service
• Keep a record of fire practices

• Means of escape
• Fire access
• Emergency lighting
• Luminous guidelines (if underground)

• Good equipment husbandry and routine house
  keeping are essential to keeping the exit routes
  and doors clear and free from obstacles and
  combustible materials
