The ultimate goal of the WIP program is to
enhance each students ability to gather,
analyze, apply and communicate first-hand
information. Additionally, we would hope that a
positive sense of responsibility and pride in
their own personal, educational path are
imprinted in their continuing, lifelong learning.

THE PHILOSOPHICAL FOUNDATIONS The ultimate goal
of the WATERSHED program is to encourage each
student to gather, retain, interrelate, apply and
communicate information and to foster within each
student a positive sense of responsibility for
and pride in the improvement of those abilities.
The materials, methods and procedures employed in
the program stem from the following philosophical
tenets underlying the WATERSHED program.
Students are encouraged to become inspired and
bold thinkers and citizens of their watershed and
the world.

Youth Eco-Leadership Summit
Tuscarora Inn/Conference Center Mt. Bethel, PA
Once a year, the regional 3-day Youth
Eco-Leadership Summit enables students and
teachers to share research and stewardship
initiatives on local watersheds with their peers.

Kohler Product inclusion
Palisades School District, in an effort to go
green, has formed a partnership with the Kohler
company and has installed the Steward K-491
Waterless Urinals throughout the PALMS building.
Our focus is to analyze the buildings water
usage and evaluate the effectiveness of the
product.

Delaware River Experience Unique
educational programs on the Delaware River
The Delaware River Experience fosters knowledge,
awareness and an appreciation of the natural
resources of the Delaware River and its
tributaries through ecological experiences. On a
state-ofthe-art Coast Guard certified pontoon
boat educational program participants will be
able to collect water samples and specimens of
aquatic river life and return to a land based
laboratory/classroom to learn more about the
ecology of the river. The Delaware River
Experience is based out of Keller's Landing, a
1.5 acre riverside property well suited for
groups interested in learning about the river.

GIS, a computer-based information system that
blends cartography with data, will allow students
to manipulate local and regional collected data
impacting our watersheds into the program to
create various topographical maps.
