  • No sanitation
  • No drinkable water
  • No security people vulnerable to violence

Resolution D022 reads, in part
Resolved, That the General Convention establish
the work toward the achievement of the Millennium
Development Goals as a mission priority for the
coming triennium, and that each diocese,
congregation and parishioner be urged to commit
to 0.7 giving toward these goals by July 7, 2007

Proposed resolution
  • Resolved, in accordance with Resolution D022
    (attached) passed at General Convention 2006,
    that the vestry of St. James Church commits 0.7
    of the Normal Operating Income (NOI) of the
    Church, beginning in 2007, to support the
    achievement of the Millennium Development Goals
    (MDGs)
  • and be it further resolved that the amount for
    2007 will be based upon the NOI for 2005, which
    is 491,095, yielding a 0.7 contribution for
    2007 of 3,437.66
  • and be it further resolved, that this commitment
    shall be in addition to existing mission support
    and shall appear as a separate line item in the
    parish budget
  • and be it further resolved, that the vestry
    requests the Missions and Outreach Commission to
    administer distribution of the 0.7 to
    organizations that (a) implement programs that
    support some or all of the individual components
    of the MDGs and (b) are IRC 501(c)(3)
    organizations that do not incur or report
    lobbying and political expenditures as defined in
    IRC 6033(e)
  • and be it further resolved, that the vestry
    encourages each parishioner to also commit to
    giving 0.7 of their income to achieving the MDGs.
