Directions
  • September 18th was Constitution Day. To remember
    the creation of the Constitution you will be
    writing an essay about the Constitution.
  • Everyone must complete this assignment.
  • Those of you who would like to enter the contest
    must submit a type written essay by Monday.

Contest Directions
  • Essay Rules
  • 1. The essay must be a contestant's original
    work.
  • 2. Contestants can enter only once.
  • 3. Essays must be between 800-1200 words, Essays
    that do not meet the word count will be
    eliminated.
  • 4. Every word is counted regardless of length.
    For example, a one-letter word
  • such as .a. will be counted and given the same
    value as a 12- letter word such
  • as .enthusiastic. Hyphenated words such as e-mail
    or self-confidence will be
  • counted as one word. When numbers are used as
    part of an essay, they will be
  • counted in the same fashion as a word. For
    example, .5. will be counted and
  • given the same value as a seven digit number such
    as 1,234,343..
  • 5. The essay title and footnotes do not
    contribute to the word count.
  • 6. Quotations may be used sparingly if plainly
    identified wherever used.
  • 7. All entries must be typewritten in English.
  • 8. Contestants must demonstrate knowledge of the
    Constitution
  • 9. Contestant may not identify themselves, their
    school, city or state within their essay.
